Ingredients

Explanation

Chi Shi Zhi, Yu Yu Liang, Zi Shi Ying and Zhe Shi: Warming up the uterus to control menstruation, nourishing blood to arrest metrorrhagia.

Ru Xiang, Mo Yao and Wu Ling Zhi: Promoting the circulation of blood to remove blood stasis, activating the flow of Qi to relieve pain.

Nuo Mi: Reinforcing the lung, strengthening the spleen, invigorating Qi, warming up the middle-Jiao.

Effect

Removing blood stasis and arresting bleeding.

Indications

Syndrome due to deficiency-cold of the Chong and Ren channels and obstruction of the uterus by blood stasis, marked by metrorrhgia or metrostaxis, purplish red or dark purple blood with clots, pain in the lower abdomen aggravated by pressing, dark purplish tongue, and deep thready taut pulse; including such diseases with the above symptoms as dysfunctional uterine bleeding and postpartum profuse loss of blood.

Administrations

All the ingredients expect Nuo Mi and Zhu Sha are ground together into fine powder. Nuo Mi is ground and stir-fried until done. The two powders are mixed together and made with water into pills. The pills are coated with Zhu Sha, 6g of the pills is taken each time, twice daily.

Contraindication

Because drugs for astringing are compatible with drugs for removing blood stasis in this prescription, it should not be used to treat the syndrome of “weakness and depletion of the kidney not complicated by blood stasis”.
