風門
Fengmen(BL12,风门) is an acupuncture point in the meridian named Taiyang Bladder Meridian of Foot.
Meaning
Feng, pathogenic wind; men, door.
The point is located where it is easily invaded by pathogenic wind and so is useful in treating diseases caused by pathogenic wind. The point is therefore considered as the door of pathogenic wind.
Location
1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 2nd thoracic vertebra.
Indication
- cold, headache, fever and cough
- pain of the nape and back
Method
Puncture perpendicularly or obliquely in the direction of the midline 0.5-1cun. Deep puncture upward is prohibited to avoid medulla injury.
