Ingredients
- Wan Can Sha (Excrementum Bombycis) 15 g,
- Sheng Yi Ren (Semen Coicis) 12 g,
- Da Dou Huang Juan (Semen Sojae Germinatum) 12 g,
- Mu Gua (Fructus Chaenomelis) 9 g,
- Chuan Lian (Rhizoma Coptidis) 9 g,
- Zhi Ban Xia (Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparata) 3 g,
- Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae) 3 g,
- Tong Cao (Medulla Tetrapanacis) 3 g,
- Jiao Shan Zhi (fried Fructus Gardeniae) 5 g,
- Wu Zhu Yu (Fructus Euodiae) 1 g.
Explanation
Can Sha: The principal drug, being pungent and sweet in flavor and slightly warm in nature, regulating the stomach, treating cramp due to cholera morbus.
Mu Gua: Resolving dampness, regulating the stomach, relaxing muscles and tendons and activating the flow of Qi and blood in the channels and collaterals, combining with Can Sha to treat cramp due to cholera morbus.
Da Dou Huang Juan: Resolving dampness, ascending the clear Qi.
Yi Yi Ren: Inducing diuresis to descend the turbid Qi, and relaxing muscles and tendons.
Huang Qin, Huang Lian and Jiao Shan Zhi: Clearing away heat pathogen and removing dampness.
Ban Xia: Checking upward adverse flow of Qi to relieve vomiting.
Tong Cao: Inducing diuresis to remove dampness, activating channels and collaterals.
Wu Zhu Yu: Assisting Ban Xia in checking upward adverse flow of Qi and aiding Huang Lian in purging fire to relieve vomiting.

Effect
Clearing away damp-heat, ascending the lucid Qi and descending the turbid one.
Indications
Syndrome of sudden vomiting, diarrhea and cramp in cholera morbus due to disturbance of the spleen and stomach by damp-heat retained in the interior, marked by sudden vomiting and diarrhea, abdominal pain, cramp, thirst, restlessness, yellowish thick and dry tongue coating, and lingering rapid pulse, including such diseases with the above symptoms as typhoid fever, acute gastroenteritis.
Administrations
Chuan Lian is fried with ginger juice, Huang Qi is fried with liquor, Wu Zhu Yu is steeped in water for a certain time. Then all the ingredients are decocted in water for the decoction. The decoction is divided into 2 portions, 1 portion is taken each time.
