Gaohuang
Gaohuang(BL43,膏肓) is an acupuncture point in the meridian named Taiyang Bladder Meridian of Foot.
Meaning
Gao, fat; huang, membrane.
Gaohuang refers to the fat and membrane below the heart and above the diaphragm. Since this part is close to the pericardium, it is taken as the component of the pericardium. The point is at the level of Jueyinshu point.
Location
3 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 4th thoracic vertebra.
Indication
- 1.Pulmonary tuberculosis, chronic bronchitis of the aged, bronchial asthma.
- 2.To treat weakness, anemia, often used with Zusanli point.
- 3.Ache of the shoulder.
Method
Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-0.8 cun or obliquely towards the front of the scapular with the tip in the direction of the lateral side.
Remarks
Avoid deep insertion.
