Ingredients

• Ma Huang 7 g,
• Zhi Gan Cao 14 g,
• Yi Yi Ren 7 g,
• Xing Ren 3g.

Explanation

Ma Huang: The principal drug, being pungent and bitter in flavor and warm in nature, relieving superficies syndrome by means of diaphoresis, facilitating the flow of the lung-Qi to stop asthma.

Xing Ren: Promoting the flow of the lung-Qi, aiding Ma Huang in relieving asthma.

Yi Yi Ren: Removing dampness and subduing swelling.

Gan Cao: Invigorating the spleen and stomach, aiding Yi Yi Ren in removing dampness.

The Effect of 麻黃杏仁薏苡甘草湯

Effect

Relieve exterior syndrome by means of diaphoresis, dispel wind and eliminate dampness.

Indications

Heat syndrome due to dampness pathogen, exterior syndrome due to wind-damp, afternoon fever.

Administrations

Decocted in water for oral dose to be taken twice.
