Ingredients
- Sheng Di (Radix Rehmanniae) 6 g,
- Shu Di (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata) 9 g,
- Mai Dong (Radix Ophiopogonis) 5 g,
- Bai He (Bulbus Lilii) 3 g,
- Bai Shao (Radix Paeoniae Alba) 3 g,
- Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) 3 g,
- Bei Mu (Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae) 3 g,
- Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) 3 g,
- Xuan Shen (Radix Scrophulariae) 3 g,
- Jie Geng (Radix Platycodi) 3 g
Explanation
Shu Di: One of the principal drug, nourishing Yin and tonifying the kidney.
Sheng Di: The other principal drug, removing heat from blood and stopping bleeding.
Mai Dong, Bai He and Bei Mu: Moistening the lung, nourishing Yin, resolving phlegm and relieving cough.
Xuan Shen: Nourishing Yin, removing heat from blood, purging fire of deficiency type.
Dang Gui: Nourishing blood and moistening dryness.
Bai Shao: Nourishing blood and replenishing Yin.
Jie Geng: Ventilating the lung to relieve cough.
Gan Cao: Tempering the actions of all the other ingredients.
The Effect of 百合固金湯
Effect
Nourishing Yin, moistening the lung, resolving phlegm ami relieving cough.
Indications
Syndrome due to Yin-deficiency of the lung and kidney, marked by cough with bloody sputum, dry and painful throat, feverish sensation in the palms and soles, bone-heat, night sweat, reddened tongue with little coating, and thready rapid pulse; including such diseases with the above symptoms as pulmonary tuberculosis, bronchitis and bronchiectasis.
Administrations
Decocted in water for oral dose to be taken twice.
