Ingredients
- Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng) 10 g,
- Mai Dong (Radix Ophiopogonis) 15 g,
- Wu Wei Zi (Fructus Schisandrae) 6 g.
Explanation
Ren Shen: The principal drug, replenishing the lung-Qi, promoting the production of body fluids.
Mai Dong: Nourishing Yin, clearing away heat, promoting the production of body fluids.
Wu Wei Zi: Astringing the lung to stop thirst, promoting the production of body fluids.
The Effect of 生脉散
Effect
Working together to exert the action of tonifying, clearing away heat and astringing and produce the effect of replenishing Qi, promoting the secretion of body fluids. Astringing Yin and arresting sweating.
Indications
Syndrome due to impairment of both Qi and body fluid by pathogenic heat or lung-deficiency from prolonged cough, marked by profuse sweating, lassitude shortness of breath, thirst, weak rapid pulse, or by cough with little sputum, shortness of breath, spontaneous sweating, dry tongue and mouth, and weak rapid pulse; including such diseases with the above symptoms as febrile disease at its later stage, tuberculosis of lung. chronic brontitis, heart failure and acute infectious diseases in the convalescence.
Administrations
Decocted in water for oral dose to be taken twice.
