Ingredients

Explanation

Dang Gui: The principal drug in larger dose, tonifying blood, promoting blood circulation by means of removing blood stasis.

Chuan Xiong: Promoting blood circulation and activating the flow of Qi.

Tao Ren: Activating blood circulation to remove blood stasis.

Gan Jiang: Removing cold from the blood to warm the channels and relieve pain.

Yellow rice wine: Being warm and disperse in nature, enhancing the potency of all the other
ingredients.

Gan Cao: Tempering the actions of all the other ingredients.

The Effect of 生化汤

Effect

Promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis, warming the channels to relieve pain.

Indications

Syndrome due to attack by cold in the state of postpartum blood-deficiency, marked by retention of lochia, cold pain in the lower abdomen, pale tongue or tongue with ecchymosis, deep slow or uneven pulse; including such diseases with the above symptoms as endometrial inflammation, retention of placenta and metrypertrophia.

Administrations

Decocted in water (appropriate amount of yellow rice wine may be added) for oral dose to be taken twice.
