Explanation
Ling Yang Jiao: Extinguishing wind and stopping spasm, pacifying liver and subduing yang, clearing liver heat and improving vision, clearing heat and removing toxicity.
Chai Hu: Clearing away heat through the superficies of the body to relieve exterior syndrome.
E Jiao: Nourishing Yin and tonifying the lung, enriching blood to arrest bleeding.
Xi Jiao, Niu Huang, Xiong Huang: Clearing heart-fire and removing toxicity.
Fu Shen: Calming heart and inducing tranquilization, promoting diuresis.
She Xiang and Bing Pian: Induce resuscitation and refresh mind, promoting the flow of qi and alleviating pain.
Dang Gui: Tonifying blood and activating blood, alleviating pain and moistening intestines.
Chuan Xiong and Bai Shao: Nourishing blood and promoting the flow of it.
Huang Qin, Bai Lian and Huang Lian: Clearing heat and removing toxicity.
Jie Geng: Ventilating the lung, dispelling phlegm, relieving sore throat.
Gan Jiang: Warming the lung and dispelling cold so as to eliminate retained phlegm and warming up the spleen-Yang to remove dampness.
Fang Feng: Dispelling wind and releasing exterior, expelling wind-damp, alleviating pain.
Rou Gui: Reinforcing fire and strengthening yang, dispelling cold to relieve pain, warming meridians and collaterals.
Xing Ren: Promoting the flow of the lung-Qi, aiding Ma Huang in relieving asthma.
Hei Zao: Tonifying the spleen and stomach, harmonizing property of medicine.
Pu Huang: Stopping bleeding, resolving stasis, inducing diuresis.
