Ingredients

Explanation

Wu Zhu Yu: The principal drug, being pungent and bitter in flavor and heat in nature, warming the stomach to disperse cold, removing stagnated food, descending Qi to lower the turbid.

Ren Shen: Invigorating primodial Qi and benifiting Yin.

Sheng Jiang: Warming the stomach to purge cold.

Da Zao: Replenishing Qi and nourishing the spleen, working together with Sheng Jiang to regulate Ying and Wei.

The Effect of 吳茱萸湯

Effect

Warming the middle-Jiao to tonify the spleen and stomach, keeping the adverse flow of the stomach-Qi going down to stop vomiting.

Indications

Syndrome due to deficiency-cold in the stomach, marked by nausea after meal, fullness in the chest and gastric region, gastric pain, gastric discomfort with acid regurgitation, or due to Jueyin disease marked by headache and vomiting with foams, or due to Shaoyin disease marked by vomiting and diarrhea; including such diseases with the above symptoms as chronic gastritis, nervous headache, vomiting in pregnancy, gastrointestinal neurosis, Meniere’s disease, drug anaphylactic vomiting, etc.

Administrations

Decocted in water for oral dose to be taken 3 times.
