Explanation

Ba Dou: Removing cold accumulation with drastic purgative; expelling water and alleviating edema; dispelling phlegm and relieving sore throat.

Jie Geng: Ventilating the lung, checking upward adverse flow of Qi, eliminating phlegm, relieving cough.

Bei Mu: Clearing away heat, moistening the lung, resolving phlegm, arresting cough.
