Zhongwan(CV12,中脘) is an acupuncture point in the meridian named Conception Vessel. It is the front-mu point of the stomach, influencial point of the Fu, crossing point of CV with the SI, TE and ST meridians.(CV meridian: Conception Vessel; SI meridian: Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian of Hand; TE meridian: Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian of Hand; ST meridian: Yangming Stomach Meridian of Foot)

Location

On the anterior midline of the abdomen, 4 cun above the umbilicus.

Indication

  • ①Stomachache, abdominal distension, loss of appetite, vomiting, acid regurgitation, hiccups,malnutrition and indigestion syndrome in children;
  • ②icterus (jaundice), insanity, hysteria.

Method

Perpendicular insertion 1-1.5 cun.
