The drug is the dried or fresh root bark of Ampelopsis humulifolia Bge. (Family Vitaceae ), growing near forests along creeks and mountain slopes, and distributed in Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi and Gansu of China.

Actions
Root bark is used to activate blood flow and remove blood stasis, and as antiphlogistic, antitoxin, regenerative agent of muscles, anti rheumatic, diuretic, for the treatment of traumatic injury, fracture, rheumatic arthritis, sores and furuncles.
Dosage and Administrations
Decoct 9~15 g, or made into powder. Proper dosage is for external application, pounded for applying.
