The drug is the dried root of Rhododendron ovatum Planch. (Family Ericaceae), growing on mountain slopes in forests, and distributed chiefly in Fujian, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong and Hunan.

Leaf contains quercetin, myroetin, dihydroquercetin, gossypetin, etc.

Property
Bitter, neutral, toxic.
Actions
Root is used to clear away heat and remove dampness, for the treatment of leukorrhea due to damp-heat pathogen externally for carbuncles, furunculosis, etc.
Dosage and Administrations
Decoct 1.5~3 g. Proper dosage is for external application, decocted for washing.
