Taixi(KI3,太溪) is an acupuncture point in the meridian named Shaoyin Kidney Meridian of Foot. It is the Shu-Stream and Yuan-Source Point of the kidney.

Meaning

The point is in the depression between the medial melleolus and Achille's tenton, as in a vast canyon.

Location

In the depression between the prominence of the medial malleolus and heel tendon.

Indication

  1. High blood pressure, dizziness, tinnitus, insomnia, headache.
  2. Toothache and sore throat caused by deficiency of Yin and excess of Fire.
  3. Spermatorrhea, impotence, irregular menstruation.

Method

Puncture obliquely in the direction of anterior side of lateral malleolus 0.5-1 cun.
