The drug is the dried whole herb of Hemiboea subcapitata C. B. Clarke (family Gesneriaceae), growing in moist shady sites on mountain slopes, under woods, and distributed chiefly in Sichuan, Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, jiangsu, Shaanxi of China.

Sweet, cold.
Actions
It is used to clear summerheat and eliminate dampness, remove toxicity; for the treatment of snake bites, sores, carbuncles, syndrome of exogenous summerheat-damp.
Dosage and Administrations
Decoct 9~15 g. Proper dosage is for external application, pounded for applying with the fresh.
Contraindication
Avoid eating acid and cold food.
