The Effect of 苎麻叶

Property

Sweet, slightly bitter, cold; heart and liver meridians entered.

Actions

Cool blood to stop bleeding, dissipate stasis and resolve swelling, remove toxicity.

Indications

Traumatic injury, traumatic bleeding, hematemesis, hemoptysis, sores and boils, acute mastitis, snake and insect bites, eczema, hematuria, stranguria complicated by hematuria, rectocele, erysipelas, hypermenorrhea.

Dosage and Administrations

Decoct 10~30 g, or pounded into powder. Proper dosage is for external application, pounded for applying.

Cautions

It is contraindicated in case of deficiency-cold in spleen and stomach.
