Ingredients

Explanation

Xuan Fu Hua: The principal drug, descending the adverse flow of Qi to remove phlegm and stop hiccup.

Dai Zhe Shi: Checking the adverse flow of Qi by its heavy nature.

Ren Shen: Invigorating Qi and strengthening the body resistance.
Zhi Gan Cao: Warming and tonifying the Qi of the Middle-Jiao.

Da Zao: Nourishing the stomach and reinforcing the spleen.

Sheng Jiang: Warming up the stomach to dissolve phlegm, dispelling pathogenic cold to arrest vomiting.

Ban Xia: Eliminating phlegm, removing masses, keep the upward adverse flow of Qi going downward and regulating the function of the stomach.

The Effect of 旋覆代赭湯

Effect

Descending the upward adverse flow of Qi and dissolving phlegm invigorating Qi and regulating the function of the stomach.

Indications

Syndrome due to weakness of the stomach-Qi and retention of phlegm in the interior, marked by fullness and rigidity in the epigastric region, incessive belching, whitish slippery tongue coating, and taut weak pulse; including such diseases with the above symptoms as gastrointestinal neurosis, gastric dilatation, incomplete pylorochesis and peptic ulcer.

Administrations

Decocted in water for oral dose to be taken twice.
