The drug is the root and rhizome of Iris speculatrix Hance (Family Iridaceae), growing along roadsides and edge of woods, distributed in Shanxi, Anhui, Zhejiang, Fujian, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Sichuan of China.

Actions

The root and rhizome are used as blood-activator, antihydropic, antitoxic and analgesic, for the treatment of abdominal distension due to indigestion, rheumatism, traumatic injury, jaundice due to damp-heat.

Dosage and Administrations

Decoct 6~15 g, or soaked in wine. Proper dosage is for external application, decocted for washing.
