Explanation
Chai Hu: Dispersing pathogenic factors from the superficies of the body.
Hou Po: Inducing Qi to flow downward and relieving distention.
Huang Lian: Clearing heat and removing toxicity.
Pao Jiang: Warming meridians to stop bleeding, warming the spleen and stomach to alleviate pain.
Ba Dou Shuang: Eliminating retained fluid, resolving swelling, eliminating phlegm and relieving sore throat.
Bai Zhu and Fu Ling: Strengthening the spleen and draining dampness.
Zi Wan: Moistening lung to resolve phlegm and relieving cough.
Sha Ren: Resolving dampness and promoting the flow of qi, warming middle energizer.
Zhi Mu: Clearing heat and purging fire, nourishing yin and moistening dryness.
Ren Shen: Reinforcing the primordial Qi, benefiting the spleen and lung.
