The drug is the dried rhizome or whole herb of Chirita eburnea Hance (Family Gesneriaceae), growing on rocks or under forests along creeks, and distributed in Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Sichuan of China.

Slightly bitter, sweet, cool.
Actions
Clear lung and relieve cough, cool blood to stop bleeding, remove toxicity and eliminate carbuncle.
Indications
Cough due to yin deficiency, hemoptysis due to pulmonary tuberculosis, hematemesis, metrorrhagia, leukorrhea, etc, externally for traumatic bleeding and carbuncles.
Dosage and Administrations
Decoct 15~30 g of the whole herb, or 3~9 g of the root. Proper dosage is for external application, pounded for applying.
