Fei Zao Jia (Fruit of Chinese Coffeetree)

Sources

The drug is the dried ripe fruit and seed, as well as stem part or root of Gymrzocladus chinerlsis Ball. (family Leguminosae). Growing on hill slopes, rock sides, roadsides, house-sides and in woods, bamboo forest, distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, jiangxi, Anhui, Fujian, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan of China.

The Effect of Fei Zao Jia

Property

Pungent, warm; lung and large intestine meridians entered.

Actions

Eliminate phlegm, remove toxicity and kill parasites.

Indications

Rheumatic arthritis, scabies, hematochezia, dysentery, cough with excessive phlegm.

Dosage and Administrations

Decoct 1.5~3 g, or made into pills and powder. Proper dosage is for external application, pounded for applying.

Cautions

It is contraindicated in case of dyspepsia.
