CV6

Qihai(CV6,气海) is an acupuncture point in the meridian named Conception Vessel. It is the yuan-source point of Huang.

Location

On the anterior midline of the lower abdomen, 1.5 cun below the umbilicus.

Indication

• ①Collapse, thin, weak physique and constitution, zang-qi exhaustion;
• ②periumbilical pain, diarrhea, dysentery, constipation, and other diseases of intestine;
• ③dysuria, enuresis, nocturnal emissions, impotence, hernia;
• ④irregular menstruation, amenorrhea,metrorrhagia, leukorrhea, prolapse of uterus, post-partum (puerperal) lochiorrhea, retention of afterbirth (lochiometra).

Method

Perpendicular insertion 1-1.5 cun. Moxibustion is always applied. Contraindicated during pregnancy.
